What Is Hiring Beagle? Hiring Sales Reps on Proof
Hiring Beagle scores sales candidates on a real selling call, then matches them to roles. Why we built it from Salescadia's call data and how it works.
Hiring Beagle is a sales hiring platform that scores every candidate on a real selling call before you meet them, then matches reps to roles based on how they actually sell. It grew out of Salescadia: the same model that grades live sales calls for working sales teams now grades candidates. This post explains why we built it, how it works for employers and for reps, and what it does not do.
Why did Salescadia build Hiring Beagle?
Because our own data kept showing that the rep matters more than almost anything else, and the hiring process is bad at telling reps apart.
Salescadia records and scores sales calls for teams that use it, and the pattern is consistent: reps working the same pool of leads, with the same product and the same playbook, close at very different rates. Our case study shows how wide that gap can get, and we dig into why in the close-rate gap when two reps sell the same leads.
Interviews do not catch that gap reliably. An interview is a rehearsed conversation about the candidate; a sales call is an unrehearsed conversation about the buyer. The selection research agrees: in the large 2022 re-analysis by Sackett and colleagues, unstructured interviews were among the weakest common predictors of job performance, while structured, job-based methods came out on top. If the strongest signal is how someone sells, the screen should be a sales call.
We already had a model that scores selling behavior on real sales calls. Hiring Beagle points it at candidates.
How does Hiring Beagle score a sales candidate?
Every rep takes a short call with an AI buyer. The call is scored into a Sales Print:
- A selling-skills score out of 100, built from six skills: discovery, listening, value, objection handling, next steps, and product knowledge. It comes with a confidence band that tightens as more calls are added.
- How they sell, described and never scored. Warm or direct, narrative or data-led, deliberate or urgent. Style helps match a rep to the kind of buyer you sell to, but nobody gets ranked on personality.
SDRs get their own track, so an early-career rep is not judged on running a close they would never own. A coaching-and-retry step shows coachability: after feedback, does the second attempt get better?
Reps can also add real call transcripts or recordings to sharpen the score. You can read the full breakdown in what a Sales Print is on the Hiring Beagle blog.
A Sales Print measures selling skill in a realistic scenario. It does not measure whether someone will fit your team or learn your product fast, and one call is one call. That is why it comes with a confidence band and why the next step is a human conversation, not an automatic offer.
How does Hiring Beagle work for employers?
There are two ways in.
Post a role yourself, free. Add the title, role type and pay range. Hiring Beagle shows you reps who have already been scored on a sales call, anonymized, and keeps searching for new reps for your role in the background. You request intros to the ones you like. If they say yes, you interview them. You pay only when you hire.
Have the Hiring Beagle team run the search. On a free 30-minute intro call, the team learns the role, the OTE, and what your best rep does differently. A $1,000 deposit starts the search; it is credited toward the fee and refunded in full if fewer than three vetted candidates arrive within 30 days. The fee is 10% of first-year OTE when you hire, invoiced net 30 from the start date, with a 90-day replacement guarantee.
If you already have a sales team, there is a third piece: a free audit. Upload your deals and Hiring Beagle shows which kinds of buyers are in your pipeline, which rep closes each kind best, and where a new hire would make the biggest difference. Then it can rank candidates by how closely they sell like your winners. That is the same idea behind how to hire a sales rep who fits your actual customers.

Meet reps who have already been scored on a sales call, anonymous until they say yes. Post a role free or book a 30-minute intro, and pay only when you hire.
Hire on Hiring BeagleHow does Hiring Beagle work for sales reps?
It is free for reps, always. Employers pay when a hire happens, not candidates.
A rep takes one call, gets a Sales Print, and goes back to work. Hiring Beagle keeps checking new roles against the rep's skills, style and pay floor, and emails only when one fits. The rep stays anonymous: employers see the anonymized Sales Print and can request an intro, and the rep decides whether to accept. Reps own their data and can delete their profile at any time.
There is no public job board. Companies and candidates meet through intros the candidate agrees to, so nobody's search becomes public. Reps who want to get scouted for a sales job without a famous logo on their resume can start on the Hiring Beagle home page.
How is Hiring Beagle different from a recruiter or a job board?
- Proof before the interview. Recruiters and job boards hand you resumes. Hiring Beagle hands you a scored sample of selling.
- Pay on hire. Posting a role is free. The managed search is a percentage of first-year OTE, with a refundable deposit and a replacement guarantee. The Hiring Beagle blog breaks down how sales recruiter fees usually work for comparison.
- Matched to your buyers. With your own deal data, candidates are ranked by how closely they sell like the reps who already win your deals.
- Private by default. Candidates opt in to every intro, so a rep who is happily employed can stay visible to the right roles without broadcasting a job search.
What are the limits of Hiring Beagle?
Honest ones:
- A short AI call shows selling craft, but a short scripted call shows less of some styles, like pressure or long-form storytelling, than a full real deal would.
- Product knowledge is the least portable skill; a strong rep from another industry may score lower there and ramp fine.
- The score supports a human decision. It should never be the only reason someone is or is not hired.
- If you hire for roles in New York City or other places with AI-hiring rules, check the local requirements first. Our guide to AI sales role play for hiring covers them.
Key takeaways
- Hiring Beagle scores sales candidates on a selling call, using the same model Salescadia uses on real sales teams.
- The Sales Print is a skills score across six selling skills, plus a selling style that is described, not scored.
- Employers post free and pay on hire, or use a managed search at 10% of first-year OTE with a replacement guarantee.
- Reps join free, stay anonymous, and only hear about roles that fit.
