# The Claude Code Prospecting Kit

Turn Claude Code into a research analyst for your outbound. This kit gives you a
`CLAUDE.md` that teaches Claude your ICP once, plus two slash commands you will use
every day: `/research-company` and `/build-list`.

**Install (2 minutes):**
1. Make a folder for your sales workspace and open Claude Code in it.
2. Save the first block below as `CLAUDE.md` in that folder.
3. Save the two command blocks as `.claude/commands/research-company.md` and
   `.claude/commands/build-list.md`.
4. Fill in the `<<...>>` placeholders. Done — Claude now knows your ICP in every session.

## 1) CLAUDE.md — teach Claude your ICP once

```markdown
# Sales workspace
## What we sell
<<one sentence: product + the painful problem it removes>>
## Who buys it (ICP)
- Industry: <<e.g. B2B SaaS, agencies, logistics>>
- Size: <<e.g. 10-200 employees, $2M-$50M revenue>>
- Buyer titles: <<e.g. Founder, VP Sales, Head of RevOps>>
- Disqualifiers: <<e.g. no sales team, enterprise-only procurement, regions we skip>>
## Buying signals (ranked)
1. <<e.g. hiring SDRs/AEs right now>>
2. <<e.g. just raised a round>>
3. <<e.g. using a competitor - name them>>
4. <<e.g. founder posting about pipeline problems>>
## Rules for all research
- Every claim needs a source URL. No source, say "unverified".
- Never invent emails, revenue numbers, or funding data.
- Output tables I can paste into a sheet: Company | Why now | Signal | Source | Best contact.
```

## 2) `.claude/commands/research-company.md`

```markdown
Research the company $ARGUMENTS as a sales analyst preparing outbound.
Use web search. Produce, in order:
1. **Fit check** — score 1-10 against the ICP in CLAUDE.md, one sentence why.
2. **Why now** — the single most timely reason to reach out this week
   (hiring, launch, funding, leadership change, competitor mention). Cite the source.
3. **Who to contact** — 2-3 names with titles that match our buyer titles, and
   where you found them.
4. **Opening angle** — one specific, evidence-based first line I could send.
   No flattery, no "I noticed you..." filler. Reference the actual evidence.
5. **Landmines** — anything that makes this a bad fit or a bad week to reach out.
Keep it under a page. If fit is below 5/10, say so at the top and stop early.
```

## 3) `.claude/commands/build-list.md`

```markdown
Build me a prospect list matching our ICP (see CLAUDE.md). Criteria for this run:
$ARGUMENTS
Steps:
1. Use web search to find 15-25 companies matching the criteria AND at least one
   ranked buying signal. Job boards, funding announcements, directory pages,
   news, and podcasts are all fair game.
2. For each: Company | Employees (est.) | Signal found | Source URL | Likely buyer title.
3. Rank by signal strength, not company size.
4. Flag any you could not verify with a real source - do not fill gaps with guesses.
5. Save the result as prospects-<today>.csv in this folder.
Never scrape login-walled sites. Public pages only.
```
